Message From 2 Fulltime B.C. Gold Prospectors to the NDP and Green Parties
A message to the new B.C. Government from 2 full time B.C. prospectors breaking their backs because of rules and regs based on poor unproven science and emotion. We appeal to our new government for unbiased science based fair regulations which will allow for even the smallest man to chase a dream without having to risk their health or safety. These laws have come to a ridiculous head based on biased American special interest group's supposed scientific studies used to undermine the industry. I appeal to the B.C. government to take a look at our regs consult all stake holders and give even the smallest of us at least a fair chance at chasing our dreams. There are well over 100,000 prospectors in the province and we must organize and make our voices and plights heard. Please share and forward this video to your MLA or the Premier and his partner Andrew Weaver themselves. Thank-you for watching.

What is GOLD PLACER CLAIM? What does GOLD PLACER CLAIM mean? GOLD PLACER CLAIM meaning - GOLD PLACER CLAIM definition - GOLD PLACER CLAIM explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. In the United States, a placer claim grants to the discoverer of valuable minerals contained in loose material such as sand or gravel the right to mine on public land. Other countries such as Canada, Mexico, and Australia grant similar rights. In the United States, the valuable mineral in a placer claim is almost always gold, although other nations mine placer deposits of platinum, tin, and diamonds. Another type of mining claim is a lode claim. A mining claim allows some security of tenure for the owner, providing an incentive to invest time and money developing the deposit. Mining claim laws vary from state to state, but claims staked over federal minerals follow federal mining law. Federal minerals are managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Mining claims staked under either State or federal laws (state claims may only be staked on state-owned and managed lands; federal claims may only be staked on minerals owned by the federal government) are limited to lands available for claim staking at the time the claims are staked. Thus, if the land is not available for mineral entry (example: withdrawn due to its status as a park or refuge), then the claim is said to be invalid ab initio. An additional requirement is "Discovery", which follows the "Prudent Man Rule." This means that a sufficient indication of valuable mineral(s) would encourage a "Prudent Man" to further invest time and money developing the deposit towards the goal of mining it. The holder of a mining claim does not own the surface, the water, or even the rocks and gravel. A mining claim grants the holder with the preferential right to extract the valuable minerals within the claim, and for uses incident to that goal, such as prospecting, exploration and development. Gold mining is one of the most common uses for the staking of mining claims. In Alaska, state mining claims may be up to 160 acres (0.65 km2), and there is no distinction between lode or placer claims. The boundaries of the claim must follow the 4 cardinal directions, with an exception being adjustments for existing valid claims. "Claim jumping", which happens to this day, is a case where one person overstakes the claims of another. This results in civil action, and sometimes violence. Claims staked on Federal-managed lands fall under Federal rules. Typically, the claim size is limited to 660'x 1320', or 20 acres (81,000 m2). The claim must be either placer or lode, and the discovery point must be clearly marked. The claim staking procedure includes setting a monument (a post of at least 3" in diameter and at least 3' visible above the ground, or a rock monument at least 3' in height) at the NE corner of the claim. This is known as the Number 1 corner, and it is here that the claimant places the location notice. Three additional monuments, one at each corner of the mining claim, must be set, numbered in a clockwise direction. Copies of the claim documents must be filed in the local offices of the land managers, and filing fees paid. This must be completed within 45 days of the staking. In addition, fees for annual rental, filing, and work (or payments in lieu of labor) to fulfill requirements of "annual labor" must be completed by the deadlines set by the regulations in order to hold the claim. Failure to meet any of these requirements will result in a declaration of abandonment, and the claim cannot be restaked by the original locator or a successor in interest for one year from the date of abandonment. During this time, the claim may be relocated by others.

Goldpanning Stave lake
This is a day trip that I took up to Mission B.C. which is about an hour from the hustle and bustle of the largest city in the area . . . Vancouver, Canada. The creek is on Government crown land and is open to gold panning simply because there are no Placer gold claims permitted on this creek, I suspect that's because it's not a great creek for gold prospects anyhow. Gold panning is just a hobby for me so to find some gold is just the icing on the cake of a fun afternoon out amongst the trees and mountains and the fresh air. Enjoy.

Gold Prospecting slab hut
Slab Hut Creek reserve is a small DOC campsite where you are legally allowed to pan for gold in the river that runs past. It is in a really quiet location, set in a forest environment, and features a large brick barbeque with pizza oven on the side. It also has the distinction of being one of the very few locations where you can legally Gold Prospecting, and keep what you find. Elsewhere in New Zealand, if you don't have a prospecting license, you can't legally keep any gold that you might find, even it it is on your own land. We visited on a miserable wet day in autumn, on our way from a West Coast storm in Greymouth to forecast sunny weather in Hanmer Springs. So, we didn't really see the campsite at its best. We'd happily come back in better weather, just for the peaceful forest surroundings. There is not a lot of room though, so be prepared to find it already full if you're travelling in the summer holiday season.

North Bay Resources Inc. (NBRI) Provides Fraser River Project Update
SOURCE: North Bay Resources Inc. SKIPPACK, PA, via eTeligis, 3/18/2014 8:00:00 AM North Bay Resources Inc. (NBRI) Provides Fraser River Project Update North Bay Resources Inc. (OTCQB: NBRI) ("North Bay" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that the Company has engaged the firm of Golder Associates Ltd. to conduct a Heritage Impact Assessment ("HIA") on our Fraser River Project near Lytton, British Columbia. The survey work is scheduled to begin within the next few weeks. As previously reported in a Company press release dated December 18, 2013, the Heritage Branch of British Columbia's Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations (the "Branch") has asked the Company to conduct a HIA survey of our permitted mining site prior to the start of mining operations. The purpose of the survey is to satisfy the Branch that our mining project will not disturb any sites within our work area that might potentially be deemed to have any historical significance. The scope of the survey initially requested by the Branch was, in the Company's view, exceptionally wide ranging and covered an area much larger than the Company's mining claims actually encompass. The time and expense to complete such a survey was seen by the Company as excessive, and after an extended period of discussion, the Branch has recently submitted a more focused proposal on the Van Winkle Flats area where our mining claims are located, and which the Company has accepted. On March 14, 2014, the Branch issued a Heritage Inspection Permit for the Fraser River Project (the "Project Area"), and the survey work will now proceed forward. To complete the survey, the Company has selected Golder Associates Ltd. to conduct the HIA and report its findings to the Branch. The objectives of the HIA will be to: - prepare a detailed land use history of the Van Winkle Flats (the "Study Area") using existing records; - prepare the required Statement of Significance ("SOS") for the historic resources of the Study Area; - identify, record, and assess the heritage features, with a particular focus the Project Area; - identify and evaluate possible impacts to identified character-defining elements in the Project Area; and - recommend appropriate impact management actions specific to the Project Area. The Golder team will be led by Dr. Christopher Andreae, Ph.D., CAHP. Dr. Andreae has a Ph.D. in Historical Geography from the University of Western Ontario (2006), a Master's Degree in Industrial Archaeology, University of Birmingham, England (1992), and a Masters in Museum Studies (University of Toronto, 1981). After forty years of operation, starting in 1952, the mine was unexpectedly forced to close in 1992. Most employees were laid off. Barkerville Gold Mines Tour
Gold Investing News took a trip to Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd.'s (TSXV:BGM) QR mill to see the first pour of a gold dore bar from gold mined from the Bonanza Ledge deposit. Watch the highlights of the visit here, as well as a brief interview with Frank Callaghan, director (and former president and CEO) of Barkerville. "The very first pour from Bonanza Ledge, 14 years later," said an enthusiastic Callaghan, "we discovered it back in 2000 on the flank of Barkerville Mountain, we did a bulk sample in 2004 that was financed by Eric Sprott, and then we went from 2004 to 2011 to get a permit to mine it. We got the permit in the beginning of 2011 ... and now it's running and that's the first bar from Bonanza Ledge. It's amazing!"
